Krav Maga, “קרב מגע”, is a fluid motion of techniques with the goal of neutralizing a threat as soon as possible. It can translate as hand combat. It was born as a necessity for survival in Hungary when Imi Lichtenfeld, a martial artist, decided to teach common citizens to defend themselves and protect their communities developing a system of techniques for practical self-defense in life-threatening situations in the process.
Krav Maga is effective and intuitive for people of any age, size or shape.
Effective for both fitness and self-defense, Krav Maga doesn’t require any special gear or tools and teaches you techniques you can use in almost any threatening situation.
The techniques are based on your natural instincts to acquire skills fast empowering you to defend attacks under any circumstance. You will develop awareness and instinctive reflexes to choose the appropriate response as instantaneously as possible with realistic fight training.
It is natural to be a little nervous and excited before your first Krav Maga. We are fortunate to attract students who are very welcoming and friendly. Here are some things to expect, know, and bring.
Please bring workout clothes (t-shirt, long shorts or pants), indoor running shoes, and water. Men should bring groin protection (just in case).
The format of our classes is consistent. Here is an overview of a typical one-hour class:(15 mins warm up, 30 mins technical practice, 15 mins review).
Our students are of various fitness levels. Go at your own pace.
Beginners are very welcome in all of our classes. We have beginners joining every week. Go at your own pace. Classes are interactive so questions are welcome and encouraged.
